Once perceived as a cult-movement, the role of gaming is quickly elevating its status in the realm of popular culture. No longer specific to one demographic, Blizzard Entertainment© boasts eleven million monthly subscribers devoted to World of Warcraft (WoW). Naturally, artists are embracing video game development technology, the subject of gaming, and virtual aspects into their work. WoW: Emergent Media Phenomenon consists of three components, including the artists/history of the game, fan art, and artists who use World of Warcraft as inspiration for their work.
